I always wanted to see if its possible to have expressions in discord using my XIV character.
I’ve done it via a transparent series of Lalafell emote GIFs. I felt the transparency was important to highlight the character and not clutter up the image. It also makes it clean and crisp.
The way these are done is by recording the character emotes via OBS with an chromakey GShade filter (have to be standing over a ledge to do this or the floor will show). Then exporting it to various GIF tools to crop, trim, and make transparent.
There’s still some inconsistencies in lighting, the Eorzea time this is done was actually super important for lighting and shadows. Some older GIFs (furious and laugh) have blue tinted robe bottoms due to lighting. Some of this was also done in Limsa, while others were at the FC house.
I should make these into NFTs, so no one go and right click ➡️ save this stuff.
